Appellate Practice
The ability to effectively and persuasively present a client’s legal position to a panel of judges lies at the heart of the lawyer’s art. Rushton Stakely has a history of preeminence at the appellate level and is respected by the bench and bar alike for achieving successful results on appeal.
Every Rushton Stakely lawyer practicing in litigation is experienced in writing briefs and arguing before the Alabama appellate courts, the Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, or other judicial bodies acting in an appellate capacity. Several attorneys have presented oral arguments before the Alabama Supreme Court or the Eleventh Circuit, and the firm has also participated in cases before the United States Supreme Court. In addition, several of our lawyers served as judicial law clerks or staff attorneys.
Our lawyers are often retained by fellow lawyers to spearhead appellate efforts following an adverse result at the trial level. We understand the inter-workings of the appellate court system and know how to successfully navigate a client through the appellate process. Often the final stage in litigation, an appeal is no place for taking chances. With Rushton Stakely, you can be assured that you have the best and the brightest on your side.
