Administrative Practice and Governmental Affairs
As the seat of state government, Montgomery provides the forum for disputes arising out of legislative or other governmental action. Rushton Stakely has represented clients in administrative proceedings before a number of agencies including the Alabama Public Safety Commission, the Alabama Department of Insurance, the Alabama Securities Commission, the State Building Commission, and the State Department of Revenue. In light of our experience in this area, several of our lawyers have been designated as special assistant attorneys general on special assignments for state government.
We also represent a number of trade associations and political groups. We advise these clients on a broad spectrum of legislative matters, and our ranks include lawyers with substantial experience working with local, county, and state governmental bodies. In addition, we advise clients on state and federal election law issues, and we have participated in the formation of state and federal political action committees as well as the preparation of mandatory election reports for submission to the Alabama Elections Division and the Federal Election Commission.
