Charles C. Smith is an Associate at Rushton Stakely, practicing in the Montgomery office. Charles regularly advises clients on federal and state taxation, estate and trust administration, estate and trust litigation, mergers and acquisitions, public finance, and economic development. He brings more than six years of sophisticated legal experience, with a practice background grounded in trusts and estates, closely held businesses, tax, and transactional work. Prior to joining the firm, Charles practiced with a law firm in the Montgomery area, where he advised clients on estate and trust matters, tax planning, and related business issues.
Charles earned his J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 2019 and his LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University Graduate Tax Program in 2020. He also earned concurrent undergraduate degrees in Finance and Economics from Auburn University in 2016. Charles is admitted to practice in Alabama and serves as a board member of the Montgomery Estate Planning Council.
