Mr. Blitz is a shareholder with the firm, previously serving on the management committee and as the leader of the real estate practice group. For over 35 years, Mr. Blitz has represented clients in all facets of commercial and residential real estate, including development, financing and title issues. In recent years, his practice has been devoted to serving developer and lender clients whose needs relate to commercial real estate, principally in shopping center, office and apartment ownership, management, development and financing, and general commercial law.
Mr. Blitz prepares, reviews and negotiates option and purchase and sale agreements, transactions and loan documents and major tenant leases, and also reviews title, survey and environmental matters, and operation and easement agreements. He represents mortgage companies, banks, life insurance companies and other lenders in commercial and residential loan transactions ranging from shopping centers to single family loans. He previously served as legal counsel to the Alabama Housing Finance Authority.
Mr. Blitz has been elected to the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, which is by invitation only, and has been AV peer review rated in Martindale-Hubbell for over 25 years. He has also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® for over 20 years, Super Lawyers since 2008 and Super Lawyers – Corporate Counsel Edition in 2009 and 2010. Birmingham Business Journal recognized Mr. Blitz on the list of “Leading Lawyers of Alabama” in the August 2012 issue.
