Mr. Jackson has been with the firm since 1970 and has been a shareholder since 1973. He practices primarily in the areas of utility law, taxation (including tax planning and disputes arising out of audits), general corporate law, municipal and corporate finance, and the law of cooperative organizations. These areas of practice have also given him substantial experience and expertise in the law of natural resources with emphasis on procurement, as well as administrative law and the drafting, analyzing, and reviewing of legislation.
He also continues an active practice in estate planning, probate and administration of estates, and the representation of colleges, universities, charitable trusts and foundations and other nonprofit organizations and their members.
Mr. Jackson represents several utility cooperatives engaged in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. He also represents agricultural cooperatives, a large number of corporate and other business clients, and bond issuing authorities.
Mr. Jackson is currently serving on the Alabama Law Institute Standing Trust Committee.

The Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives recently presented the prestigious Eminent Service Award to Mr. Jackson at its 64th Annual Meeting held in Montgomery. The Eminent Service Award honors individuals who make outstanding contributions to Alabama’s and to the nation’s electric cooperatives. Only individuals of the highest caliber and with qualifications of great achievement contributing to the rural electrification program are chosen for this award.

From 2000 to 2015, Mr. Jackson served as the President of Community Ministries, Inc., which operates food and clothing distribution centers, assists the poor in finding jobs, provides counseling, teaches English as a second language, and provides motel rooms, food and other needs to poor persons who live more than 75 miles from Montgomery and who have a loved one hospitalized in Montgomery.
Mr. Jackson also helped organize and then served as director for 15 years of Interdenominational Police and Firemen Chaplaincy. He is also a trustee and deacon of First Baptist Church, where he has served as a Sunday school teacher and chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee.
Mr. Jackson is also a member of the Samford University Howard Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee and the Samford Planned Giving Advisory Committee.
