Mr. Sexton has tried cases to a jury in both state and federal courts and handled matters before the Alabama Supreme Court and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. A significant portion of Mr. Sexton’s practice involves defending hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice lawsuits statewide.
Mr. Sexton has also represented individuals and corporations in the areas of commercial litigation, products liability, premises liability, personal injury, civil rights, employment and construction law.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Sexton practiced with law firms in Oklahoma City and Washington, DC. Mr. Sexton joined the firm as an associate in 2006.
Obtained defense verdict in a wrongful death and Section 1983 action in favor of a former state employee wrongly accused of causing the death of a patient in a state mental hospital
Obtained complete dismissal of a wrongful death suit against an internist accused of failing to recognize and diagnose symptoms of colorectal cancer
Obtained summary judgment in favor of an automobile dealership in a premises liability action
Obtained summary judgment in favor of a cardiothoracic surgeon in a wrongful death suit who was accused of negligently failing to treat a patient while on-call
Obtained defense verdicts in motor vehicle accidents in Montgomery County District Court
Obtained summary judgment for a cardiology group accused of negligently administering a persantine stress test
Obtained summary judgment in a legal malpractice matter on behalf of an attorney who operated as local counsel for an out-of-state firm in a personal injury lawsuit
Obtained summary judgment in favor of a nurse anesthetist and anesthesiology group accused of applying improper medications to a patient just before surgery
